Now one of the most talented painters at Lake Chapala or anywhere, Cathy Chalvignac turned from painting furniture 20 years ago to making extremely detailed fine art acrylics of cultures from across the world.
Using photographs as her source material, Cathy carefully transforms one piece of art into another, detail by laborious detail.
In the video below, which transitions between photograph and painting, you can see how she transformed a photo of an Aztec dancer by local photographer Dane Strom into one of her meticulous paintings, which can take weeks of daily work to complete.
Cathy also has a wooden caravan on her property that she rents as an Airbnb, Casa del Encanto.
