This cultural center serves the community & acts as a venue for music, dance & other events.
La Cochera Cultural is a community center that serves as an event space for music, dance, art, fundraiser auctions, and other cultural activities.
The events, such as jazz concerts, indigenous dance, flamenco, and classical music, are sporadic but usually happen several times a month.
La Cochera Cultural is also a creative center for kids and adults, conducting workshops or classes about art, music and other themes.
The center has several resident artists, such as Antonio López Vega, who teachers a children’s art program on Saturdays.
La Cochera Cultural was founded in 2017 by Jennifer Stanley, who acts as the facility’s coordinator, and her partner Thom Weeks. In their former lives, before moving to Ajijic in 2010, the two ran an architecture and design company in Vancouver.
Check their Facebook page for upcoming events.. Tickets are sometimes for sale before the show — otherwise, the box office normally opens a half-hour before showtime.
